Are you happy to be smoke free?

smoke free DarlingtonAt 6am on 1st July Darlington and the rest of England became smoke-free in virtually all enclosed spaces.

Smoking kills between 5,000 and 6,000 North Easterners every year and breathing second-hand smoke also kills 35 of the region’s workers each year. A smoke-free England creates a healthier environment, so everyone can socialise, travel, shop and work free from second-hand smoke.

It's now coming up to a year since we went smoke-free and I'd like to hear your thoughts on whether this has been a change for the better.

This was a great idea but we have to go further, a smoking license would require anyone buying cigarettes to show this license (that they would have to pay for) - therefore hopefully cutting underage smoking and at the same time producing another source of revenue.
